Break and Steal an Egg Wiki

How to Increase Speed Fast

There are four Speed levers: the free 10K claim, the treadmill, trail multipliers and discovery rewards. Stacking them in the right order is what closes the million-Speed gaps.

The four levers, in the order to use them

Speed is the only stat that opens zones, and four separate systems feed it. They multiply rather than replace each other, which is why the fastest route is to stack them instead of grinding one.

1. The free +10,000 Speed claim. Like and favourite the game, then take the claim in the Free Rewards area. This is the only Speed source that costs nothing but two clicks.

2. The treadmill. Standing on it raises Speed continuously and is the base value everything else multiplies.

3. Trails. A trail multiplies your Speed while it is equipped. Owning one and forgetting to equip it is the most common reason a player's Speed 'stops working'.

4. Discovery rewards. The first time you obtain a pet, you also receive a Speed bonus. Those bonuses are how players jump from millions to billions without a treadmill marathon.

Trails: cost against multiplier

Trails scale hard. The White trail at $500 doubles Speed, the Blue at $7,500 quadruples it, and the ladder keeps climbing to the Moonlight trail at $100T with a 10,000x multiplier. The practical rule is that a trail is worth buying when its multiplier moves you past a gate you could not otherwise reach in a session.

Because the multiplier applies to your whole Speed stat, later trails make every treadmill session worth more. Buying a trail after a long treadmill grind gives you the same Speed as buying it before, which is why players buy trails first and train second.

Green$100K8xBefore pushing to the 50,000 gate

Worked maths: 2x versus treadmill time

Suppose you have trained to 500 Speed. With no trail you need another 500 Speed of treadmill time to meet the Desert gate at 1,000. Equip the White trail and you are at 1,000 immediately — the $500 trail saved the entire treadmill session.

The same logic holds at every gate, but the gaps grow. Between Desert at 1,000 and Snowy at 50,000, treadmill time alone is measured in long sessions; a 4x Blue trail cuts that to a quarter. Between 150 million and 1 billion, discovery Speed rewards from Mythic and Divine pulls do most of the work, with the trail multiplying the base you already have.

What does not raise Speed

Pickaxe Power. It shortens the shell-breaking window and nothing else. A stronger pickaxe will never open a gate.

Owning a trail without equipping it. The multiplier is applied only while equipped.

Cash. Cash buys the things that raise Speed, but the gate comparison is Speed against Speed.

How to tell what is actually blocking you

The steps above describe the fix. This part is about knowing whether the fix is the one you need, and how to tell a real improvement from a lucky run.

Diagnose before you change anything

Before changing anything, find out which lever is doing the work right now. Stand on the treadmill for a short, repeatable window and note how much Speed you gain; that is your passive rate. Then equip a trail and repeat the same window. If the gain scales, the trail is multiplying what the treadmill produces and both matter. If the gain does not move at all, the trail is not equipped — a trail you bought but never put on behaves exactly like one you never bought.

Check that the change actually landed

Check progress against the gate rather than against the number on screen. A gate opens when your effective Speed clears it, so the real test is whether the zone lets you in, not whether the stat looks high. If the gate still refuses you after an upgrade, the multiplier is not being applied and the first thing to rule out is that the item is sitting in your inventory. Because multipliers compound, the same treadmill session pays more after a trail purchase, which makes that repeatable session the cheapest way to confirm a purchase registered.

Common misreads

Two misreads dominate. The first is grinding treadmill time to close a gap a multiplier would erase, which spends the one resource you cannot buy back. The second is blaming the pickaxe: breaking faster feels like progress but touches nothing the gate reads. There is a third, subtler one — assuming the trail ladder is out of reach because the top rungs look exponential. The entry rungs exist so that the treadmill time you were going to run anyway is worth more.

Questions this guide gets asked

What is the fastest way to increase Speed?

Claim the free 10K Speed first, then buy a trail before a long treadmill session, because the multiplier applies to the base you train afterwards.

Do trails stack?

The published sources describe trails as equipped multipliers, not stacking items. Assume one equipped trail applies at a time and verify in game before buying a second high-cost trail.

Why did my Speed stop increasing at a zone?

It did not stop; the next gate is simply far above your current value. Check the exact number on the zones table and compare it with your effective Speed after equipping a trail.
